Nirvana’s third and final studio album, In Utero, contained the song Heart Shaped Box, written and
sung by Kurt Cobain. It was the first single released from the album in 1993. Interestingly it was not
released as a single in the US, for fear doing so might damage the album sales. That didn’t stop it
receiving massive airplay on American radio though, and the single made the top ten in countries
such as the UK and New Zealand the top 40 in many others.
